Expansion of Management and Testing Capability

Appointment of Laboratory Manager – Perth Facility

Trilab is pleased to announce the appointment of Ben Brash (formerly of Golder Associates) as the company’s Laboratory Manager, Perth.

Ben possesses over 10 years laboratory experience with such organisations as Golder Associates and SGS Australia, and will be responsible for delivering a range of soil and rock mechanics tests including Triaxial, rock strength and index, and Direct Shear testing.

Chris Channon, the incumbent Perth Laboratory Manager, will remain in Perth until the management transition is complete; Chris will then relocate back to Brisbane to further build the company’s specialist Triaxial and Direct Shear testing services.

Ben can be contacted on 08 9258 8323 or ben.brash@trilab.com.au, and Chris can be contacted on chris.channon@trilab.com.au.

Expansion of Testing Capability

Trilab continues to expand its testing capacity and capability:

  • Hoek Rock Triaxial testing is now available from the company’s Perth laboratory.  The scope of the company’s NATA accreditation allow the Perth facility to test specimen diameters of 63 and 83mm with data acquisition, and to a maximum confining pressure of 50 MPa.
  • Surface profiling of Direct Shear strength testing is now available from the company’s Brisbane and Perth laboratories.  Surface profiling is expected to lead to improved understanding of the shear surface roughness of materials, pre and post test.
  • Trilab’s Brisbane and Perth laboratories are now NATA accredited to perform a range of soil and rock mechanics tests to International Society for Rock Mechanics (or ISRM) standards, and ASTM International standards.

“The recent equipment acquisitions, and related research and development reinforce Trilab’s position as Australasia’s pre-eminent provider of specialised soil and rock mechanics testing services to the mining and civil-construction industries.  We are constantly striving to provide a more complete service to our clients.” said Gavin Hamilton, Chairman of Trilab.
