Project Description
A comprehensive geotechnical evaluation is an essential component of feasibility and pre-feasibility studies for new mining operations, particularly complex underground mines. PT Sumbawa Timur Mining (STM), 80% owned by Eastern Star Resources (a wholly-owned subsidiary of global miner Vale Base Metal) has contracted Trilab to conduct geotechnical testing on pre-feasibility rock core samples.
The high-grade copper deposit, discovered in 2013 in Onto, Hu’u District, Dompu Regency, West Nusa Tenggara Province, Indonesia, has the potential to become a world-class copper mine supported by renewable energy. Since the discovery, STM has been conducting extensive exploration activities within the Hu’u Project area. A substantial number of diamond drill holes have been drilled to determine the size, extent, and characteristics of the deposit, revealing significant quantities of copper and gold. Projections suggest that the Onto Deposit is likely to rank among the ten largest undeveloped copper deposits discovered globally to date.
